E-Bike Regulations

Dear Townsend Families,

I hope you and your family have enjoyed a wonderful and relaxing summer. As we begin preparing for the start of another exciting school year, I want to share an important reminder regarding student safety when traveling to and from school.

If your child plans to ride a bicycle, e-bike, scooter, or any other motorized transportation to school, please ensure they are following all city regulations and local traffic laws. Safe and responsible riding helps protect not only your child but everyone in our community.  Most importantly, all students riding a bicycle, e-bike, scooter, or other similar vehicle must wear a properly fitted helmet. Helmets are one of the most effective ways to prevent serious injuries in the event of an accident.  Please be aware that if a student arrives at school without wearing a helmet, they will not be permitted to ride their bicycle, e-bike, or scooter home at the end of the day. A parent or guardian will need to come to school to pick up both the student and their transportation.

Please review the attached information regarding e-bike regulations and safety requirements. If you have any questions about whether your child's e-bike is legal to operate, or if you need clarification regarding local regulations, please feel free to contact the Chino Hills Sheriff's Department at the non-emergency number, (909) 364-2000.

We appreciate your partnership in reinforcing these expectations with your child before the first day of school. Taking a few moments to review safe riding practices can help ensure everyone arrives at school and returns home safely each day.

Thank you for your continued support. We look forward to welcoming our students back soon for another outstanding year at Townsend Junior High!

Respectfully;

Michael Cloke
