Dear Townsend Families,

I am excited to share some outstanding news with you. 

Robert O. Townsend Junior High School has been selected as a 2026 California Distinguished School. This recognition is one of the highest honors a school can receive in the state of California and is a reflection of the tremendous work happening on our campus every day. Townsend was 1 of 408 secondary schools selected in the state of California and 1 of 4 schools in the Chino Valley Unified selected, along with Canyon Hills Jr. High, Chino Hills High School and Chino High School. 

This achievement would not be possible without the dedication of our outstanding teachers and staff, the hard work and perseverance of our students, and the continued support from our families and community. Together, we have built a culture focused on high expectations, student engagement, and continuous improvement.

We are incredibly proud of this recognition, as it highlights the commitment our school community has to ensuring every student is supported and challenged to succeed. While we celebrate this accomplishment, we will continue striving to grow and provide the very best educational experience for all of our students.
